In a workout like this, the focus is to keep the heart rate at a high level, with only short rests and recovery periods. When you workout in this way, you exert a lot of energy in short bursts. This is different than other types of interval training where you rely more on building the heart rate more slowly as you increase the rate at which you are working out. By training the Insanity way, you max out your training each day. Each workout includes plyometrics (jumping), pure cardio workouts, and various sports training exercises, such as The Heismann.
